Eloth is a medium-sized creature resembling a serpent but with three pairs of glowing red eyes, dark coloration, and a hazy, otherworldly outline.

Unathegor was born thirty years ago to a fairly well-off family of Fetchling merchants who handled trade between the Material and Shadow planes. He was never quite satisfied with his mundane life in the darkness of the Shadow Plane, and soon after reaching adulthood he left his hometown and took to wandering in the bleak wastes outside for weeks on end. Unathegor still is not entirely sure what compelled him to leave; it was a fit of madness, perhaps, or, maybe something simply drew him towards the desert. Regardless, survival was difficult out there. Dark days and even darker nights passed as he struggled against and fled from a vast assortment of undead creatures, and a few even deadlier ones. When Unathegor inadvertently stumbled into the burrow of a shadow plane monster, it seemed like it was the end for him, but instead of killing him the creature looked at him for a moment and sent him back on his way. Some time afterwards he regained his senses and returned home. Unathegor led a reasonably normal life for a while, until he met a homeless Fetchling wizard named Ualothok while on a trip. Ualothok offered to sell one of his crumbling magical tomes for a modest sum of money. Intrigued, Unathegor accepted the offer and walked home with what turned out to be a guide to summoning, which he spent a few months studying. All of his summoning attempts while in the Shadow Plane proved to be futile, but, while staying in a lodge in the Material Plane, he succeeded at last in conjuring up an otherworldly being. This monster turned out to be no other than the creature he survived a run-in with in his days wandering the desert, which he named Eloth. He summoned Eloth a few more times before eventually heading back to his home in the Shadow Plane. Upon arrival there, however, he found that the lich warlord Zhau had razed his hometown to the ground. Lost, and with no where else to go, Unathegor and his eidolon began to wander the Material Plane looking for work.
